Tiếp theo việc chính thức ban hành visa TSS 482, chính phủ cũng đã thông báo về những thay đổi liên quan đến danh sách tay nghề, điều kiện nộp thường trú chuyển tiếp, đặc biệt liên quan đến những loại visa định cư 186, 187
Chính phủ đã chính thức bãi bỏ visa 457 và ban hành loại visa thay thế 482 (TSS) bắt đầu từ ngày 18 tháng 3 năm 2018.
Tuy nhiên những ai đã nộp hồ sơ vin visa 457 và đang trong thời gian chờ đợi xét duyệt vẫn được áp dụng luật cũ. Những ai đã có visa 457 nhưng muốn đổi công việc phải nộp visa TSS mới.
Một thay đổi khác gây khó khăn cho những ai muốn xin visa định cư vùng tỉnh, đó là điều kiện kinh nghiệm làm việc để xin visa 187 nay là 3 năm làm việc toàn thời, thay vì trước đây hoàn toàn không đòi kinh nghiệm.
Một thay đổi lớn khác đó là Chính phủ đã ban hành một danh sách tay nghề mới có tên Regional Occupation List (ROL) – Danh sách tay nghề định cư vùng tỉnh – dành cho visa bảo lãnh tay nghề vùng tỉnh 187 và visa TSS trung hạn.
Như vậy, visa 482 (TSS) sẽ bao gồm hai chương trình: ngắn hạn và trung hạn. Đối với chương trình trung hạn sẽ áp dụng danh sách tay nghề trung hạn (MLTSSL) và danh sách tay nghề vùng tỉnh (ROL).
Các điều kiện của visa 482 là phải có kinh nghiệm làm việc 2 năm trong lĩnh vực bảo lãnh, tiếng Anh IELTS 5.0, tuy nhiên điều kiện thẩm định tay nghề sẽ không áp dụng cho tất cả các ngành nghề.
